About LiminalX

We are in a threshold moment.
That demands threshold thinking.

LiminalX is a platform for those navigating the threshold between human expertise and AI capability in healthcare — building awareness, developing capability, and driving action.

Our Mission

The question is not whether AI will change healthcare.

Liminal — from the Latin limen, threshold. The liminal is the in-between state: not where you were, not yet where you are going. The intersection of AI and humanity in healthcare is in such a space — how it integrates, who benefits, who is harmed, who is responsible — is still being written.

LiminalX exists to ask the questions that will shape how we navigate that. Not to advocate for AI adoption uncritically, and not to resist it reflexively. But to build the thinking frameworks that let clinicians, institutions, and systems engage consciously.

"No answers. Better questions. The threshold between human expertise and AI capability in healthcare is not a problem to be solved — it is a space to be navigated, consciously and with human agency at its centre."

01

Openness

Podcast is free. The threshold cannot have a paywall in front of it.

02

Framework Thinking

We don't report news. We build frameworks. Every episode is designed to support how you think.

03

Augmented Humanity

This isn't about AI. This isn't about humans. It's about how to be stronger together.

Our Purpose Architecture

Three goals. One mission.

Awareness

AI in healthcare is here. One of LiminalX's core values is to provide accessible and open awareness of the changing AI landscape in healthcare. The LiminalX Podcast is the primary vehicle — free, rigorous, and built specifically for the audio format rather than adapted from written content.

Awareness is not passive. It means confronting the questions that the industry prefers not to ask — about responsibility, failure, bias, and the human cost of getting adoption wrong.

Empowerment

LiminalX aims to empower those who work in healthcare with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that enable institutions, companies, and individuals to augment their capabilities with AI. This is not about replacing human judgement — it is about making human judgement more effective.

LiminalXLRN is a structured learning experience for healthcare institutions, health technology manufacturers, and higher education providers — being built on the credibility established by the Awareness platform.

Activation

As humans in healthcare we cannot be passive observers of this transition. Activation means moving from awareness and capability into deliberate, strategic action — organisations and individuals who don't just understand AI's role in healthcare but actively shape it.

This is not about moving fast. It is about moving intentionally — with governance, with human oversight, and with a clear understanding of what success looks like for patients, not just for systems.

Paul Naine is the founder of LiminalX. As a medical physicist working in healthcare he has led the global introduction of multiple advanced and new technologies in healthcare for major radiation therapy manufacturers. Watching these new technologies have true patient impacts has allowed Paul to truly understand the difference between technology and technological impact. He has focused on AI as a generational technology changer for over a decade.

As a proud father of two, he is focused on the long term impact of AI technology in healthcare, for current and future generations. His core belief is that if we can help, we should.
